With the price of onions reaching astronomically high, Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon Gozon urged Balanga farmers to plant the bulbs.

The City Agriculture Office reported that a farmer at Sitio Nyogan, Brgy Cupang Proper, Ed Gamboa responded and already started harvesting from the seeds provided by the city government.

His first harvest yielded 500 kilos of onions.

He has currently planted three hectares of land with onion and expected to harvest within a month.

The city government call residents to patronage local produce to help Balanga farmers.
